Chinese Herbal Medicine
Nutritional therapy and Herbal medicine are other important components of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Herbs affect the Qi and promote healing. Usually herbs are combined into formulas that address the patient's main health problem and supports the mind-body system. Herbs have a balancing or regulating effect on the body and are usually more gentle than pharmaceutical drugs. Side effects from herbs are possible but not usual.
At Healing Path Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine Clinic herbal medicine is available in two convenient forms. Formulas may be made from herbal powders or granules. These may be taken in a teal mixed into juice or applesauce or placed into capsules. Many formulas are also available in "pre-made" capsules or pills. While the latter is may seem more convenient and easier to take, the granular formulas have the advantage of being specifically formulated to each patientJs individual needs. Your practitioner will discuss which of these forms of herbal medicine is most appropriate for you.
